Coming out

Being gay, bi or trans isn't always easy, particularly at the beginning.

The first step for many people is to come out to themselves and accept and be comfortable with who they are and how they feel.

This can take some time and for some can be a very confusing and stressful time.

Some other common worries or concerns people have around coming out to others are –

  • How can I tell my parents, children or partner?
  • How will other people react?
  • Who should I tell first?
  • What if they take it badly?
  • Will I be treated any differently?
  • Will I be discriminated against at work?
  • Will I ever be able to have children?

These are all very common issues and you are certainly not alone in experiencing any or all of the above worries or concerns.

If you would like to talk through these or any other issues affecting you around coming out, call or e-mail Outline in the strictest of confidence, or use our online form to send us a message.

All of our trained volunteers have been through a coming out process and will be able to talk through your feelings in the strictest of confidence.

Let us be here for you during this difficult time. Telephone outline 01483727667Call us on Tues/Sun between 7:30pm-10pm or send us a message now.
